In accordance with FIPRESCI criteria, membership within Auscritic is open to film critics or journalists actively contributing to various media platforms, including print, radio, television, or online outlets. As per FIPRESCI criteria, individuals working as film publicists or within PR organisations are ineligible for membership under FIPRESCI regulations. Any film critics or journalists who has their main professional activity in the film industry cannot be accepted as members.

Registration can be accepted conditionally if an applicant has connections with film festivals where FIPRESCI (and, by proxy, Auscritic) establishes a jury; however in this case, they cannot be part of Auscritic's activities in those festivals.
Upon joining Auscritic, all members are issued an annual membership card, granting them exclusive access to screenings at participating cinemas, thereby facilitating their engagement with films not accessible through standard media previews. Additionally, Auscritic organises several member meetings, disseminates a regular newsletter, holds an annual Auscritic awards event which honours and recognises excellence in film criticism, alongside the best films of each calendar year, and offers the opportunity for members to have their website linked from our dedicated members page. Moreover, members have the chance to apply for participation on a FIPRESCI jury at prestigious international film festivals, further enriching their involvement in the global film community.
